DELILAH -   ©1990 Rachel Page ® Socan, Canada

Delilah wore a blue bow
Woven in her golden hair
Her body in a long white gown
That floated on the stair

She'd fallen in the high wood
For a man from Aberdeen
Who spun her head
with gentle words
And pretty poetry

He said "Lila will you
be my bride
For all eternity
For I am not a man unless
Delilah mine you'll be"

She lifted up her pretty head
And gazed into his eyes
Surrendered such a tender kiss
Like honey laced with wine

Still he kept wandering
in the wood
And a maiden he did try
To spin her head
with pretty words
Her lover killed him with a knife

The piper played a sad sad song
The day they were to wed
Delilah waited all night
Not knowing he was dead

Delilah wore a blue bow
Woven in her golden hair
Her body in a long white gown
That floated on the stair
